Continuing on from last year…
Here are the various pieces and layers on my design wall. Last year I explained how to make this simple and inexpensive “wall”. (See my first Blog post). It can easily be rolled up, removed, and stored out of the way. I roll it up when not in use.
After the top was pieced, I took it to my local friendly quilting shop–A Quilting Place (owned by Jackie Heyne–pronounced “hine”–in Omaha, NE). Jackie has 3 large professional long-arm machines that she rents out on the premises (how could you move these giants?). The machines all have stitch regulators.
Along with the top, I also pieced a practice, or warm-up piece to start with. Here you can see the practice piece along with the three Millenium APQS long-arms.
I put the practice piece next to the exhibit piece. As you can see, there is plenty of room on the frame. I’ll post the finished piece, 6 Million Stars, along with the poem in my next post.
