Quilting since the early 1990’s, Marge started as a traditional quilter using only commercial fabrics. Looking for more creative ways to express herself, she started exploring non-traditional and mixed media techniques.
Marge likes to experiment and dabble with new techniques and medium. Sometimes these experiments become part of the final work; sometimes they don’t. She has dyed and painted on cotton and silk, used bee’s wax, fiber, paper, tyvek, and computer generated fabric.
Born and raised in Chicago, IL, at 21, Marge moved to Lincoln, NE for a graduate program at UNL. Since then she has lived in Omaha, NE with her husband. She has 3 grown children.
My journey as an artist has paralleled my life. I’ve started chronicling my frustration with the process of creating art with the hope of helping myself and others work thru their artistic development. For me, it’s a challenge between privacy and sharing. I strongly believe in education so sharing usually wins out.
I can’t devote as much time as I’d like working in my studio. Doesn’t that sound familiar? So, I try to become more efficient in organizing and preparing my work. I finish a session by setting up for the next one, whenever that may be, and however small.
